Malayali Association Brunei

Conducting Moral & Cultural activities is one of the established objectives of the Malayali Association. We conduct and participate in several cultural programs that highlight the cultural traditions of Kerala. Our annual calendar program includes the celebration of Onam, Eid, Easter, Kerala Piravi and Christmas celebrations. We also conduct other programs such as talent shows, dance programs, speech competitions and musical nights. We also support the Brunei Indian High commission and other Indian Associations to carry out various programs in Brunei.  

Conducting Social and Welfare activities is another established objective of the Malayali Association. We conduct and participate in many Social and Welfare programs to support the Malayali Community as well as local Bruneian Community. We conduct charity events to support less fortunate people who require urgent help. Actively involved in evacuating personnel who are stranded in Brunei in coordination with Brunei Indian High commission, other Indian Associations and other government agencies. Malayali Association is always there to help people who are in need of assistance and guidance.

Malayali Association undertakes various Sports and Physical fitness activities to keep the Malayali Community in good physical and mental wellbeing.  Malayali association very well understands the requirement of sports and other physical leisure activities maintain the members physical and mental health. Hence we have a dedicated sports division with the Sports Secretary at the helm to arrange various sports, games and physical fitness activities based on the annual calendar. The annual calendar involves Onam Sports day program, Shuttle badminton tournament, Cricket tournament, Beach volley ball, Football, Volley ball, Net ball, Fun games, trekking sessions etc. Malayali Association is always there to arrange programs for the physical wellbeing of the Malayali Community in Brunei Darussalam.

Education related activities is one of the major programs Malayali Association is actively involved in. It includes arranging various talent development programs, personality development camps, knowledge imparting programs, Quizzes, Painting Workshops, Presentation skill development programs, Knowing India programs etc. As a ‘Pravasi community’ Malayalees miss the opportunity to learn their mother tongue which is a gateway for the treasures of Malayalam literature. In order to overcome this challenge, Malayali Association has decided to provide an opportunity to learn Malayalam irrespective of age. Now Malayali Association is partnering with “The Malayalam Mission” which is a Kerala Government mission working under the Department of Cultural Affairs. Brunei Malayalam classes is registered under the name “Poombatta”. Malayalam classes are arranged under the Malayali Association.

Malayali Association gives utmost priority to keep the Community informed on the developments within Brunei, in Kerala and around the World. This is an era of information technology and access to information is key to the successful implementation of an individual’s plans in a foreign country. Association does its best effort to collect the authentic information and disseminate to the community through the established communication channel such as, Notices, Emails, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and its websites.

A dedicated Information department is working under the Malayali Association with Information Secretary as its head. Information Secretary is in charge of the collection and dissemination of the information as well as the press release regarding activities conducted by the Malayali Association
